Lyons and Lee Hold on to Top Spots in Bass Pro Shops / Payne Stewart Junior Championship
Each take multiple shot leads into the final round at Rivercut Golf Course

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Landon Lyons of Baton Rouge, La., remains in the lead following the second round of the Bass Pro Shops / Payne Stewart Junior Championship after shooting an even-par 72. In the Girls Division, Patricia Lee of Lone Tree, Colo., also holds the lead for the second consecutive day after posting a 1-over-par 73.

The Bass Pro Shops / Payne Stewart Junior Championship is a 54-hole stroke play tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo. The tournament field consists of 96 boys and girls ages 12-18 from 17 states and Thailand. The Boys Division is playing the par-72 course at 6,930 yards while the Girls Division is playing at 6,010 yards.

Lyons holds a two-shot lead in the Boys Division by following up his 7-under-par 65 in the first round with a solid second round, and sits at 7-under-par 137 for the tournament. Although he has led for the first two rounds, Lyons feels he has some work left as he looks towards the finals round.

“Hopefully I can go out there and make another 65— no more mistakes,” Lyons said. “It would feel really nice to win. I've been working hard to win one of these, and came up short a couple of times. So hopefully I won't this time.”

Dylan Siebenaler of Sugar Land, Texas, is in second place at 5-under-par 139 after turning in two consecutive rounds under par. Joseph Winslow of Overland Park, Kan., who has also gone under par both rounds, is tied with Donald Stimble of Shell Knob, Mo., at 4-under-par 140 for third place. Noah West of Belden, Miss., and Dylan Lovell of Harrison, Ark., are tied for fifth place at 3-under-par 141.

Lee had three birdies on the day, including two in her final four holes, and paces the way in the Girls Division by three strokes at 1-under-par 143. Already with one win on the year, and coming fresh off another top three finish at the Lockton Kansas City Junior, Lee is looking forward to playing in the final group yet again.

“I'm excited for it—hopefully everything will go well and I can win another one,” Lee said, who also won the Aspen Junior Golf Classic in June.

Sarah Schmelzel of Phoenix is in second place after she fired a 4-under-par 68 in the second round to put herself within striking distance going into the final round at 2-over-par 146. Summar Roachell of Conway, Ark., is in third place at 4-over-par 148.
