Healey Races Ahead of Competitive Boys Division at Gleneagles Country Club
Strong putting puts Park atop the Girls Division leaderboard

PLANO, Texas – After 36 grueling holes of golf on Gleneagles Country Club’s Queen’s Course, Dylan Healey of Franklin, Tenn., enters the final round one shot ahead of the field after notching a 3-under-par 139. In the Girls Division, Kaitlin Park of Tustin Ranch, Calif., shot 1-over-par 143 to lead her fellow competitors by two strokes.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Under Armour® / Hunter Mahan Championship is a 54-hole stroke play competition played on the par-71 Queen's Course at Gleneagles Country Club. The Boys Division is playing the course at 6,791 yards while the Girls Division is playing at 6,031 yards. The 72-player field features players from 10 states, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Malaysia, South Korea and Venezuela.

After facing high wind speeds during the practice round, Healey took full advantage of the day's calmer conditions by being aggressive off the tees.

“I was striking the ball well,” Healey said. “I put myself in good positions off the tees. I was also able to sink a lot of putts throughout the day, especially during the first round. From here on out I just need to take things one hole at a time. There is a lot of golf to be played out there.”

While Healey tallied 10 birdies throughout the day, it was actually a bogey that highlighted his day of play.

“During the second round on No. 14 I got up and down for a bogey,” Healey said. “My putt came from nowhere, but it kept me in there and gave me the confidence needed to recover well. It could have been a lot worse and my score on that hole could have been a lot higher.”

Currently in second place is Cameron Champ of Sacramento, Calif., after posting a score of 2-under-par 140. In third place is Ryan Burgess of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., with an even-par 142. Lorens Chan of Honolulu sits four-shots back with a 1-over-par 143. Rounding out the Boys Division tied in fifth place with scores of 2-over-par 144 are Brendon Jelley of Tulsa, Okla., and Zachary Coats of Sprindale, Ark.

With 36 holes of golf looming, Park understood from the get go that her mental game would be just as important as her physical game. However, a strong showing on the greens allowed Park to keep her scores low throughout the first two rounds of play.

“As we were going into the round I was nervous about how my game would hold up over 36 holes,” Park said. “Things started off steady but by the second round fatigue really started to set in. It was difficult to stay focused and confident, but I just kept my head down and really relied on my putting. My putting was rolling well today and I saved a lot of chip shots that helped me come out with two solid rounds.”

Heading into the final round of action, Park is looking to the tournament's namesake, Hunter Mahan, for inspiration to finish strong.

“To play in this tournament and potentially receive a golf bag signed by Hunter is such an inspiration,” Park said. “It is just amazing because not too long ago, he was where we are playing AJGA events. It gives us all hope that we can be TOUR players, too.”

Maddie Szeryk of Allen, Texas, sits in second place with a 3-over-par 145. In third place is Summar Roachell of Conway, Ark., with a score of 6-over-par 148.
