Curbelo stayed consistent during his round by hitting fairways and greens. He made six birdies and credits the round to his strong putting.
“I played pretty solid today and didn't miss many shots,” Curbelo said. “My misses weren't that big and that helped me a lot because I didn't make bogey and my putting overall was key for me today.”
First-round leader, Celano, stays atop the leaderboard carding 1-under-par 71 in the second round with three birdies.
“The start of my back nine was solid because I made a couple birdies,” Celano said. “I made a lot of greens today and I'll just stay aggressive and hope the putts fall tomorrow.”
Snyder's patience was key in the second round. He had back-to-back birdies on Nos. 12 and 13 and posted six birdies overall.
“I started off a little slow then made a couple birdies,” Snyder said. “I stayed patient and just kept hitting greens and close shots including back-to-back birdies on the back nine.”
Tyler McDaniel of Manchester, Ky., is in fourth place after 36 holes with a 4-under-par 140. Tied for fifth place are Jordan Batchelor, St. Johns, Fla., Sean Murphy of Decatur, Ga., and Sam Rosenberg of Dallas, with a two-day total 2-under-par 142.
Patrick attributes her lead to the consistency of her drives over the past two rounds.
“My drives have really helped me and I've been striking them solid where they have been going down the middle,” Patrick said. “I'm glad I could stay consistent today and I felt that my mental game was pretty steady. I never really got down if I had a bad hole. I tried not to think about the past or the future but to stay in the present and hit each shot just my best.”
In the Girls Division, Jamie Freedman of Miami, Fla., is in second place with even-par 144 and Taylor Tomlinson of Gainesville, Fla., is in third place carding a 2-over-par 146.
