Han fires 62, takes 7-stroke lead at Castlewood Country Club - Hill Course
Suh still atop Girls Division at Trader Joe's Junior Championship hosted by Pat Hurst

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Ryan Han of Hollister, Calif., fired a bogey-free, 8-under-par 62 to grab a commanding lead of the Boys Division entering the final round. Hannah Suh of San Jose, Calif., shot a 2-over-par 72 to extend her lead in the Girls Division.

The Trader Joe's Junior Championship hosted by Pat Hurst is a 54-hole stroke play event conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at Castlewood Country Club — Hill Course in Pleasanton, Calif. The tournament field features 72 boys and 24 girls from ten states and four countries. The Boys Division is playing the par-70 course at 6,220 yards and the Girls Division is playing at 5,565 yards.

Han, who was 8-under through his first 11 holes, was one stroke away from tying the all-time low for an 18-hole score in an AJGA tournament. Han began his back nine by eagling the par-4 No. 10.

“Mainly, it was my putter. I made nearly all of my putts inside 15 feet,” Han said. “I've gone 7-under a few times, but this is my best.”

Ryan Knop of Pleasanton, Calif., Cody Blick of Danville, Calif., and first-round leader Peter Thorseth of Richmond, Texas, are tied for second with tournament totals of 1-under-par 139. Tied for fifth are Travis Rowney of Pleasanton, Calif., and Richard Ayala of Hillsborough, Calif., at even-par 140.

Suh, the first-round leader, recorded two birdies on the day and extended her lead to five strokes. Entering the final round, Suh's tournament total is even-par 140.

“I putted just as well as yesterday, but the birdies weren't falling,” Suh said. “I'm happy with how I played, but tomorrow I just want to go out there, hit it solid and be confident about everything.”

Cha Cha Willhoite of Palm Desert, Calif., sits alone in second place with a 5-over-par 145 tournament total. Katherine Sborov of Pleasanton, Calif., will enter the final round in third place, at 6-over-par 146.
