Creamer, Minahan to Represent U.S. at British Junior Open

Pair earned invitations based on success in U.S. junior events

By Seth Silverstein

Paula Creamer

Paula Creamer of Pleasanton, Calif., and James Minahan of Spring, Texas, will represent the United States at the 2002 British Junior Open Championship from July 15 – 17 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The event will feature a 54-hole stroke play competition at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club and give participants a chance to visit St. Andrews and watch the British Open at Muirfield.

James Minahan

Creamer, 15, and Minahan, 16, earned the chance to compete for the United States by topping the point standings, which included national junior golf events from last May through this March. In order to be eligible, players must have been between 13 and 15 years old as of January 1, 2002.

Both Creamer and Minahan have gotten off to solid starts in 2002. Creamer has two titles — including the AJGA PING Junior at Trophy Lake and the Scott Robertson Memorial — while Minahan is coming off a win at the AJGA Texace San Antonio Shootout.
