If you ever find yourself in a playoff, chances are you might be facing off against Jae Han Chun of Ansung-City, South Korea. Jae has found himself in the middle of playoffs during two of his four events in 2007, as well as in the only Srixon Qualifier in which he participated. But watch out – Jae has found himself on the winning end of each of these playoffs.

Jae smiles after his victory at the Coca-Cola Junior at Boyne Highlands.

In his first season playing on the AJGA circuit, Jae has already made quite a name for himself. After starting the season off with a missed cut at the FootJoy Boys Invitational, Jae rebounded – and shot straight to the top.

His first victory came at the Coca-Cola Junior at Boyne Highlands where Jae’s 69-69-68–206 tournament total put him into a playoff with Aaron Fitzpatrick of Heidelberg, Germany. After going toe-to-toe on the first two playoff holes, Jae managed to knock in the birdie putt on the third to seal the victory.

“This is a real special win for me,” noted Jae. “It proves that I can win in America and I've had so much fun here.”

The next week, Jae struggled to even get into the event. After missing the application deadline for the Randy Wise Junior Classic, Jae entered the Srixon Qualifier hoping to play his way in. His experience the week before at Boyne Highlands came in handy. Sitting in a five-way tie for 10th, Jae qualified for the event after a playoff.

During the tournament, Jae continuously found himself in second place, behind Zeyu Hu of Shen Zhen, China. After posting a final-round 70, Jae entered into yet another playoff. Zeyu and Jae both finished atop the leaderboard with 4-under-par 212 tournament totals. After another three holes of playoffs, a champion was crowned. Jae took home his second victory in as many weeks.

“I just tried to stay humble and remember what it was like playing last week in Boyne Highlands,” said Jae.

He did just that. Jae made up for missing the cut at his first AJGA Invitational by following it up with an eighth-place finish at his second one, the HP Boys Junior Championship where he posted a 72-71-72-70–285 tournament total. The following week at the Midwest Junior Players Championship, Jae finished tied for sixth.

After his extraordinary summer, Jae has managed to make his way to No. 8 in the Polo Golf Rankings. Are there Rolex Junior All-America honors in Jae’s future? While he won’t be participating in next month’s PING Invitational, keep your eyes and ears open for Jae in the future.
