Former AJGA Staffers Brazil and Powell Head Chrysler Classic of Greensboro

As the PGA TOUR’s Chrysler Classic of Greensboro unfolds this week at Forest Oaks Country Club, two former AJGA staffers will be doing all they can to ensure the event goes off without a hitch.

Tournament Director Mark Brazil, who worked for the AJGA from 1993-2001, has been working all year to prepare for Greensboro’s only major sporting event. Brazil continues to be heavily involved with the AJGA, running the FootJoy Boys Invitational, one of the AJGA’s invitational events, which is also held at Forest Oaks.

Alongside Brazil is former AJGA Vice President of Operations Bobby Powell, who joined Brazil’s staff in July as the operations director. Powell worked for the AJGA from 1996-2004.

One of the longest-running events on the PGA TOUR, the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro will see AJGA alums such as Davis Love III and Ryan Moore try to add their names to the champion’s list that is dominated by the legendary Sam Snead, who won the inaugural event in 1938 and went on to collect a total of eight victories in Greensboro.

Love will test himself this week as he recently headed a complete redesign of Forest Oaks. Moore, a Rolex Junior All-American from 1999-2001, had one of the greatest summers in amateur history, winning the U.S. Amateur, the 2004 NCAA Division I championship, the U.S. Amateur Public Links and the Western Amateur.
