AJGA alumni earn conference championships

Fifty-two men's and women's Division-I conference championships were held in April and May, and AJGA alums claimed 26 individual titles, including Stanford's Andrew Yun (pictured).


Men's Championships

Luke Guthrie claimed his second straight Big Ten title and helped Illinois record its fourth straight team championship. Guthrie's AJGA career included one win and a spot on the 2007 Rolex Junior All-America First Team.

Stanford's Andrew Yun carded a 13-under-par total and became the first Cardinal since 2002 to claim an individual Pac 12 title. Yun is the most decorated boy in AJGA history, as he was named a Rolex Junior All-American a record five times (2005-2009).


Ty Spinella, a junior at North Texas, claimed his first college title and led the Mean Green to its second straight conference title. Spinella's four-year AJGA career included a pair of victories and four top-10 finishes.

Women's Championships

Notre Dame freshman Ashley Armstrong prevailed on the third playoff hole to take home the individual crown at the Big East championship. The win was the first of her college career. As an AJGA junior, she was a two-time HP Scholastic Junior All-American and was the recipient of the 2010 Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award .

Harvard sophomore Bonnie Hu earned Ivy League medalist honors and helped the Crimson claim its third conference title in the last five years. As an AJGA junior, Hu was a two-time HP Scholastic Junior All-American, honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American, and a two-time winner.

Freshman Beverly Vatananugulkit helped UC-Davis keep a pair of three-year winning streaks alive, as she became the school's third straight medalist while also helping the Aggies take their third straight team title. Vatananugulkit carded six career AJGA top-five finishes and was a 2010 honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American.
