AJGA alumnae Tess Huber, her father Michael and 17-year-old sister Abigail were killed in a small plane crash on Sunday, Dec. 8 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Huber, 20, was a sophomore on the North Florida women’s golf team where she was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week in October and led the team in scoring after the fall season. The 2012 high school graduate played two AJGA events in 2011: the Preseason Junior at Ocala hosted by Ocala-Marion Sports Commission and the Frederica Junior Open, before signing her National Letter of Intent to play for the Ospreys.

In an article published in the Florida Times-Union, North Florida head coach Joanne Steele said Huber had a passion for the game.

“Tess brought this special spark to the team,” Steele said. “She had this calmness about her and she had this drive, this inner drive and desire to be the best for herself and best for the team.”

The AJGA sends its deepest condolences to the Huber family and North Florida women’s golf team.
