Round 4 Results

The three-time Rolex Junior All-American carded rounds of 69-70-72-73 for a tournament total of 4-under-par 284. Son was tied for the lead with Elizabeth Wang of San Marino, California, after round three. This is Son’s third AJGA Invitational win as she is currently No. 7 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. She won the 2017 Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational, 2014 Junior All-Star Invitational and has 21 top-10 AJGA finishes.  

The seventeen-year-old joins an elite group of past champions, many of whom have gone on to successful LPGA careers after the Rolex Girls Junior Championship including: Kellee Booth, Leigh Anne Hardin, Aree Song Wongluekiet, Naree Song Wongluekiet, Brittany Lang, Inbee Park, Paula Creamer, Julieta Granada, Morgan Pressel, Esther Choe, Jane Rah, Victoria Tanco, Kimberly Kim, Yueer Cindy Feng and Ariya Jutanugarn.

Round 3 Results

Elizabeth Wang of San Marino, California, and Yujeong Son of (South Korea) Norman, Oklahoma, are tied for the lead moving into the final round of the Rolex Girls Junior Championship at 5-under-par 211. Wang sits in a similar position as in the 2014 Rolex Girls Junior Championship where she won wire-to-wire as one of the youngest players in the field. That week, the now-four-time Rolex Junior All-American took a one-stroke lead into the final round and earned her second career victory.

Son, who has two AJGA Invitational victories amongst 22 top-10 finishes (2017 Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational and 2014 Junior All-Star Invitational), is No. 7 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. During the third round, the three-time Rolex Junior All-American shot even-par 72 despite making quadruple bogey on the par 5, No. 12.

Round 2 Results

Elizabeth Wang of San Marino, California, shot a 3-under-par 69 in second round play to stretch her lead to two-strokes with a tournament total 7-under-par 137. Yujeong Son of (South Korea) Norman, Oklahoma, sits in second place, while Rose Zhang of Irvine, California, and Lauren Beaudreau of Lemont, Illinois, claim a tie for third.

Wang carded four birdies throughout today’s second round. The Harvard University commit has won three AJGA titles, including the 2014 AJGA Rolex Girls Junior Championship. Wang also has 21 career top-10 finishes in AJGA events. Most recently, she finished fourth in the 2017 ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex.

Son recorded three birdies on the front nine to go 2-under-par 70 in the round for a tournament total of 5-under par 139. Son has two AJGA title wins and is a three-time Rolex Junior All-American since 2015.

 

Round 1 Results

Elizabeth Wang of San Marino, California, shot a 4-under-par 68 to lead the field by one stroke at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship. Ashely Shim, Yujeong Son and Alexa Pano share a 3-under-par 69 for the second-place position.

Wang knocked in two putts for birdies on the front nine and then sank two more birdies on the back on her way to a bogey-free round. The Harvard University commit is looking to win her second Rolex Girls Junior Championship after claiming the title in 2014 as her first AJGA Invitational win at the age of 14.

Pano, Son and Shim all trail Wang by one stroke after 18 holes of play. Pano of Lake Worth, Florida, had four birdies through 10 holes.

Son, of Norman, Oklahoma (South Korea), is seventh in Rolex AJGA Rankings. Shim, of San Mateo, California, gathered five birdies through 16 holes of play.

Three players are T5 at 2-under-par 70: Brianna Navarrosa of San Diego, California; Brooke Seay of Rancho Santa Fe, California; and Mikaela Schulz of West Bloomfield, Michigan. Six players trail T8 at 1-under-par 71.

The 2018 Rolex Girls Junior Championship is hosted by Promontory Club in Park City, Utah, June 11 - 15. 

One of five girls-only Invitationals on the 2018 AJGA schedule, the Rolex Girls Junior Championship is rich in history. Since the Rolex Girls Junior Championship began in 1992, many prominent collegiate and professional golfers have competed in the tournament. Past champions include LPGA Tour current and former players such as Kellee Booth, Aree Song, Naree Song, Brittany Lang, Inbee Park, Paula Creamer, Julieta Granada, Morgan Pressel, Ariya Jutanugarn and Alison Lee. Eleven former champions won the Rolex Girls Junior Championship en route to being named a Rolex Junior Player of the Year.   

Tee times for all rounds of the Rolex Girls Junior Championship will run from 8:00 – 9:50 a.m. off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees at Promontory Club’s Dye Canyon Course June 12-15.
