Ten AJGA Juniors Qualify for U.S. Women’s Open

Ten AJGA juniors qualified to compete among the top female golfers in the world at the 65th U.S. Women's Open.  Several juniors are making a repeat appearance at the event, which features a 156-player field.  Since 2006, AJGA juniors have qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open a total of 55 times. See how this year’s competitors measure up during the championship, July 8-11, at Oakmont Golf Club in Oakmont, Pa.

 

Yueer Cindy Feng of Orlando, Fla., will head to the U.S. Women’s Open on the heels of back-to-back Invitational victories. After missing the cut in 2009, the 14-year-old returns to the event as the youngest competitor for the second consecutive year.

 

Jessica Korda of Bradenton, Fla., qualified for the event for the third consecutive year and will look to improve on her tie for 26th finish in 2009.

 

Alison Lee of Valencia, Calif., who recently won the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior, will also try to top her tie for 26th from last year.

 

Victoria Tanco of Bradenton, Fla., ranked No. 1 in the Polo Golf Rankings, qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open for the third consecutive year. The two-time Rolex Junior Player of the Year will look to make the cut for the first time in her three starts at the event.

 

Other AJGA players qualifying for their first U.S. Women’s Open are Jaye Marie Green of Boca Raton, Fla., Ariya Jutanugarn of Bangkok, Thailand, Tiffany Lim of San Jose, Calif., Sun Gyoung Park of Vail, Ariz., Gabriella Then of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Nicole Zhang of La Quinta, Calif.
