Rickie Fowler prevailed in this year's PLAYERS Championship by winning a playoff against Kevin Kisner and Sergio Garcia, honorary chairman of this week's tournament. The Junior PLAYERS Championship presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf has never been decided by a playoff, but if it comes to that, the eventual champion will take the same path as Rickie - a three-hole aggregate playoff on Nos. 16, 17 and 18.
- On Saturday, the field played to the hole locations used during the third round of THE PLAYERS Championship. The AJGA second-round scoring average was 74.338 (1.6 strokes better than Friday), compared to a 71.227 third-round average for the pros in May. All four of the par 5s played under-par in the second round, with No. 16 being the easiest (-0.364) yielding four eagles and 29 birdies. Additionally, the AJGA players outperformed the pros on the 17th hole, carding a 2.922 scoring average compared to the PGA TOUR's 2.960 average.
