Tournament Host Claims Olympic Gold

His tournament started with a hole-in-one on Thursday and ended with a gold medal. Justin Rose captured the first gold medal in Olympic golf since 1904 in St. Louis. The TaylorMade-adidas Golf Junior at Innisbrook host posted a final-round 4-under-par 67 to win at 16-under-par 268, two strokes ahead of silver medalist Henrik Stenson. AJGA alum Matt Kuchar took home the bronze medal after tying the course record in the final round with an 8-under-par 63. Three more alums finished in the top 10: Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson and Emiliano Grillo, each finishing T8 at 7-under-par 277. There were a total of 16 alums in the 60-player field.

The Olympic Golf Course in Rio, which plays as a par-71 for both the men and the women, will open to the public following the women’s championship. The women’s event will begin on Wednesday, August 17 and feature 23 AJGA alumnae. Below are their tee times:
