August 25, 2016 - DeGroot wins three man playoff to claim first AJGA victory

Under Armour® Canadian Championship

  • Aidan Gavey of Caledonia, Ontario, won his first AJGA title in only his second career AJGA event after a par on the first hole of the playoff. Gavey fired a 5-under-par 66 on the last day to win at 2-under-par 211.
  • Emma Zhao of Windermere, Florida, took home her first AJGA victory after she sank a birdie on the second playoff hole. Zhao entered the final round with sole possesion of the Girls Division lead. She was also named to the 2016 ACDS Junior All-Star team .

Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Sugarloaf

  • RuQing Guan of Guangzhou, China, entered historic territory after she claimed her fourth consecutive AJGA win. Guan posted a final-round 2-over-par 74 for a tournament total of 6-over-par 222. Guan won at the AJGA Philadelphia Junior, the AJGA Junior at Cattial Creek and the FORE Performance Junior Championship.
  • Nicklas Staub of Boynton Beach, Florida grabbed his first AJGA win by three strokes. The rising seventh grader was atop the Boys Division leaderboard throughout all three rounds. His win earned him a spot on the 2016 ACDS Junior All-Star team .

AJGA Junior All-Star at Chantilly National

  • After a three-man sudden death playoff, Pieter DeGroot of Potomac, Maryland, captured the win at 6-under-par 210. DeGroot's 10 birdies throughout the week helped him claim his first AJGA win. 
  • Victoria Tip-Aucha of Manassas Park, West Virginia, claimed her first win in the Girls Division after posting a tournament total of 2-under-par 214. The 14-year-old finished fourth in her other AJGA appearance at the FORE Performance Junior Championship.

AJGA Shanshan Feng Junior Championship

  • Eddy Lai of San Jose, California carded a 6-under-par 210 tournament total to win his third AJGA title. He has played in 26 AJGA events with nine top-10 finishes and is verbally committed to UCLA.
  • In her first AJGA event, Qi Tian of Beijing, China, went wire-to-wire to win by six strokes, recording a tournament total of 2-under-par 214. Tian earned medalist honors at the AJGA Qualifier to gain entrance into the tournament field.
  • Tournament host Shanshan Feng claimed the bronze medal in women's golf at the Olympics the week prior to the tournament.
