Three things for Monday at #PINGInv

Where’s the wind?

Rain and wind have historically made course conditions for The PING Invitational at Karsten Creek challenging. In 2016, conditions have been ideal for tournament play with the second-round boys’ stroke average coming in at 74.89 and the girls’ second-round stroke average at 74.58. Wind speeds for Monday’s final round are projected around 15 mph, which could produce a dramatic leaderboard shift before the final putt drops.

Goodwin looks for redemption

Noah Goodwin posted a tournament record 9-under-par 63 in the second round, improving his score from the first day by 13 strokes.  Goodwin struggled during the first two rounds of the 2015 PING Invitational, but surged during the final round to finish second. A win for Goodwin would strengthen his resume to be named the 2016 Rolex Junior Player of the Year.

Quest for an Invitational victory

Lucy Li, Rachel Heck and Hailey Jones are all seeking their first Invitational victories and are in contention heading into the final round of The PING Invitational. The girls have combined for four AJGA wins and 11 top-five finishes. Li is three strokes back of leader Paphangkorn Tavatanakit while Heck and Jones are seven back.
