PGA TOUR
AJGA Alum Brendan Steele closed out his final round at the Safeway Open with three back-to-back birdies, which helped him clinch the win over Patton Kizzire by one shot. Steele carded a 7-under-par 65 the final day at Silverado Country Club, finishing the tournament at 18-under-par 270. The California native collected his second PGA TOUR win, his first victory was at the 2011 Valero Texas Open. Kizzire finished at 17-under-par 271, recording 22 birdies in Napa. Finishing in seventh Kevin Na carded a 15-under-par 273. Chris Kirk, Justin Thomas, Phil Mickelson, Cody Gribble and Martin Laird tied for eighth at 14-under-par 274.
Steele made his AJGA debut at the 2000 AJGA RS Investment Sacramento Junior Classic where he placed T6. In 2001, he played four AJGA events in which he had two top-10 finishes.
In his AJGA career, Kizzire won the 2004 TaylorMade-adidas Golf Junior at Chateau Elan and placed in the top-10 five times in seven events. In 2003, he was a Rolex Junior All-American.
The two-time Rolex Junior All-American Na claimed two AJGA titles including: the 2000 AJGA PING Phoenix Junior Championship and the 2000 ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior.
The five-way tie for fifth included four AJGA alumni: Kirk, Thomas, Mickelson and Gribble. Collectively in their AJGA careers they have competed in 85 AJGA tournaments and were named Rolex Junior All-Americans, Mickelson won Rolex Player of the Year for three years consecutively. Thomas hosted his first AJGA tournament in 2016, the Justin Thomas Junior Championship.
LPGA Tour
Two AJGA tournament hosts placed in top-3 at the KEB Hana Bank Championship. AJGA Host and alum Alison Lee lost to Carlota Ciganda in a sudden-death playoff at Sky 72 Golf Club. Lee recorded 19 birdies for the week, finishing with a 10-under-par 278 tournament total. AJGA host ShanShan Feng finished two strokes behind with Min-Sun Kim at 8-under-par 280. Brittany Lang and M.J. Hur tied in fifth at 7-under-par 281. Rounding out the top-10, Danielle Kang, In-Kyung Kim and Kimberly Kaufman tied at 5-under-par 283.
Lee hosted her first AJGA tournament, the Under Armour® / Alison Lee Championship this year. In her AJGA career, she won nine tournaments and had 28 top-10 finishes
Feng has hosted two events with the AJGA including the 2015 Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy / ShanShan Feng Junior Championship and the 2016 AJGA ShanShan Feng Junior Championship.
In her AJGA career, Lang was a 2001 and 2002 Rolex Junior-All American. She won two events including the 2001 AJGA Texace San Antonio Shootout and the 2001 AJGA Rolex Girls Junior Championship.
Kang had 10 top-10 finishes out of the 20 events she competed in while playing in the AJGA. In 2008 and 2009, she was named an Honorable Mention Rolex Junior All-American.
Kim, a 2006 Honorable Mention Rolex Junior All-American, played in three AJGA events in which she won the 2005 Hargray Junior Classic.
Symetra Tour
AJGA alumni Nicole Broch Larsen and Ally McDonald entered into a sudden-death playoff after finishing at 18-under-par 266 at the Symetra Tour Championship. Broch Larsen overcame McDonald after making a 14-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to win the season-ending tournament. Three AJGA alumni tied for sixth at 10-under-par 210 including Nelly Korda, Stephanie Meadow and Emily Tubert.
Broch Larsen played in the 2012 ANNIKA Invitational where she placed 23rd.
McDonald’s best finish was at the 2009 AJGA Charles Howell III Junior Championship, where she placed sixth.
Korda was a Rolex Junior All-American in 2013-2015. In 2015, she won the PING Invitational and the Yani Tseng Invitational presented by the Swinging Skirts.
Meadow, a two-time Rolex Junior All-American, won the 2009 AJGA Cliffs Championship and the 2010 AJGA Junior at Innisbrook.
In her AJGA career, Tubert was a 2009 AJGA Transamerica Junior All-American and 2010 Rolex Junior All-American. She competed in 25 tournaments, won the 2010 Under Armour / Vicky Hurst Championship and had 13 top-10 finishes.
Champions Tour
AJGA alum Glen Day finished tied in ninth with Steve Pate and Tom Pernice Jr. at the SAS Championship. Day posted a 8-under-par 208 at Prestonwood Country Club, eight strokes off the winner, Doug Garwood. In his AJGA career, Day competed in nine events.
