Coming off a win at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, AJGA tournament host Shanshan Feng came out on top again at the TOTO Japan Classic this past weekend. Feng closed out her final round at 2-under-par 70, finishing with a tournament total of 13-under-par 203. Three AJGA alumni finished along with Feng in the top 10. Minjee Lee, Jenny Shin and Ariya Jutanugarn tied at 8-under-par 208.

Feng will host her third AJGA tournament in 2017 with the Shanshan Feng Junior Championship in August after previously hosting events in each of the past two years. 

Shin was a 2006, 2008 and 2009 Rolex Junior All-American and won two events while playing in AJGA tournaments. She won the 2008 Stockton Sports Commission Junior Classic and the 2009 PING Heather Farr Classic. Shin recorded 15 top-10 finishes and won the 2006 U.S. Girls.

Lee competed in the 2011 AJGA Thunderbird International Junior and finished 11th.

In her junior years, Jutanugarn was named the 2011 and 2012 Rolex Junior Player of the year. She won four AJGA tournaments and had seven top-10 finishes throughout her career.

 

PGA TOUR

Seven AJGA alumni finished amongst the top 10 in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Rod Pampling captured his first win in 10 years on the PGA TOUR in Las Vegas. Brooks Koepka finished two strokes behind Pampling at 18-under-par 266. Harris English tied with Francesco Molinari and Geoff Ogilvy for fourth at 16-under-par 268. Tied for seventh at 15-under-par 269 were Keegan Bradley, Kyle Stanley and Pat Perez. Aaron Wise earned a spot in the field next week in Mexico after finishing tied for 10th with Shawn Stefani, Sean O’Hair, John Huh and Cameron Smith at 14-under-par 270.

Koepka, a 2007 honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American, won the 2005 Ashworth Junior at Highland Oaks. In his AJGA career, he recorded five top-10 finishes.

English’s best AJGA finish was third at the 2004 Rome Junior Classic presented by State Mutual Insurance Company.

Bradley and Stanley were both 2004 honorable mention Rolex Junior All-Americans. Stanley went on to be a Rolex Junior All-American in each of the next two years. Stanley won the 2004 Judie Oppenheimer Memorial Classic and the 2005 CB&I / Simplify Boys Championship at Carlton Woods. Bradley won the 2004 Lessing’s AJGA Classic. Collectively, they played in 22 AJGA events.
