The 72nd U.S. Women’s Open will feature 156 of the best female golfers in the world, including 21 amateurs that will look to leave their mark on an LPGA Tour major.

In addition to a long list of professional alumnae competing in the field, the AJGA is heavily represented in the amateur ranks. Seventeen of the 21 amateurs are current members or alumnae with some impressive resumes between them.

Reigning Rolex Junior Player of the Year Paphangkorn Tavatanakit is one of eight AJGA juniors competing this week at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Hye-Jin Choi, champion of the 2016 Polo Golf Junior Classic, will look to repeat as the low amateur at the U.S. Women’s Open after finishing at 4-over-par 292 last year.

The two youngest players in the field, 15-year-olds Anne Chen and Rachel Heck, are no stranger to the big stage. Chen qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open in The Woodlands, Texas, in June. Heck has finished in the top five in each of her past five AJGA Invitationals, including her first Invitational win at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship.

Joining Tavatanakit and Heck as recent Wyndham Cup participants will be the West Team’s Brooke Seay. Seay carded two aces during her 18-hole practice round prior to the Wyndham Cup. Ty Akabane, Emma Bradley, Dana Williams and 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur champion Eun Jeong Seong round out the current AJGA members in the competition.

Ariya Jutanugarn, Lexi Thompson, Brooke Henderson and Stacy Lewis headline top AJGA alumnae expected to compete this week.

While many will compete at Trump National for the first time this week, the AJGA has previously traveled to the New Jersey venue. In 2006, the AJGA hosted the Fidelity Investments Junior at Trump National.
