Going into its fourth year, the Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational will again provide an elite field consisting of 72 girls, ages 12-19. Beginning with the first round on Tuesday, August 15, the Invitational will host players from 11 states and five foreign countries.

The 39 former AJGA champions competing in the field mark the most in the event’s history, with the champions combining for 57 AJGA victories.

Yujeong Son is the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 11 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. The two-time Rolex Junior All-American is coming off an appearance on the West Team at the 2017 Wyndham Cup in July. Son finished runner-up at this event last year.

Nicole Whiston, a teammate of Son’s at the 2017 Wyndham Cup, enters the tournament at No. 16 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings after a breakthrough win at the PING Heather Farr Classic in April.

Even though she is making her AJGA debut this week, Chia-Yen Wu has already made waves this summer in junior golf. After the 13-year-old reached the Round of 32 at the U.S. Girls’ Junior, she made the semifinals of the U.S. Women’s Amateur after a victory in 30 holes in the quarterfinals.

The Invitational will return to Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club for the second time in the event’s four-year history. The Golf Club has previously been distinguished as one of the finest walkable designs in the world and was named as one of the top 20 best golf venues by Golf Digest Magazine. Nelly Korda won the event in 2015, the last time the Invitational was in Rancho Santa Fe. Korda is currently third in the LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year standings.
