HURRICANE HINDERS FIRST-ROUND PLAY
Claudette causes four hour and 47 minute delay

KINGWOOD, Texas - Hurricane Claudette rolled through Kingwood, Texas on Tuesday and prevented play from being completed in the first round of the Nike Golf Junior All-Star Classic at Kingwood.

Play was suspended at 10:20 a.m. because of lightning. Even though play was resumed at 3:07 p.m., a delay of four hours and 47 minutes, six groups were yet to finish the first round when play was suspended at 8:15 p.m. because of darkness. The remaining six groups will conclude their first round at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The 54-hole Nike Golf Junior All-Star Classic at Kingwood, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, is being held at Kingwood Country Club's Island Course. The 99-player field consists of boys and girls, ages 13-15, from 16 states and Japan.

Leadership Links

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age. This program gives juniors all the tools necessary to donate their time, talent and resources to local charities and the AJGA youth development programs.
