HEAVY RAINS POSTPONE FIRST ROUND IN LEE COUNTY
Double shotgun start awaits players tomorrow

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A stretch of continuous thunderstorms halted play after three holes at the Nike Golf Junior at Lee County on Tuesday.  All 80 players will now take part in a double shotgun on Wednesday.  The first shotgun will start at 8:00 a.m. while the second shotgun will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Nike Golf Junior at Lee County features 80 players, 66 boys and 14 girls, ages 12-15 from 20 states and four countries.  The 54-hole stroke play event is in its first year at the Miromar Lakes Golf & Beach Club.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The largest association of its kind, the AJGA has a junior membership of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 50 states and 30 foreign countries.

Titleist, the AJGA’s National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association’s success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, a supporter of the AJGA since 1983, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004.

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age.
