HADASH FIRES 68 TO CLAIM VICTORY AT SRIXON QUALIFIER
Ruffin, Rennegarbe share medalist honors in Girls Division

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Ryan Hadash of Katy, Texas, shot a 4-under-par 68 Sunday to garner medalist honors in the Boys Division of the Srixon Qualifier for the Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Junior Championship. In the Girls Division, Kamryn Ruffin of Pryor, Okla., and Shaina Rennegarbe of Addieville, Ill., both carded 5-over-par 77s to tie for the lead and share medalist honors.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Srixon Qualifier for the Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Junior Championship was an 18-hole stroke play event held at Rivercut Golf Course. The 94-player field featured players from 14 states and Mexico. The par-72 course was played at 6,758 yards in the Boys Division and 5,896 yards in the Girls Division.

Hadash, in his first Srixon Qualifier victory, started off the day eagling the par-5 No. 5 before carding four additional birdies through the rest of his round.

“That first hole I played was a huge confidence booster,” Hadash said. “I've never had an eagle in tournament play before so started my day off right and helped me stay focused.

Hadash finished four strokes ahead of the rest of the field, carding 33-35 on the front and back nines, respectively. He will play in this week's Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Junior Championship.

Also qualifying to play in the tournament were Korbin Kuehn of Overland Park, Kan., Nicholas Wilson of Rocheport, Mo., Patrick Willey of Conway, Ark., Bo Sarratt of Gentry, Ark., Andy Hogenmiller of Washington, Mo., Kyle Knierim of Republic, Mo., Matthew Buschman of Washington, Mo., Ryan Marks of Warrensburg, Mo., Ben Hogan of Ozark, Mo., John Sabio of St. Louis, Blake Chase of Colleyville, Texas, and Joe Doramus of Little Rock, Ark.

Daniel Schaller of St. Louis, Patrick Rodgers of Avon, Ind., Nate McCoy of West Des Moines, Iowa, Matthew Pell of Naperville, Ill., and Ben Juffer of West Des Moines, Iowa, all qualified but chose to opt-out and take a Tournament Exemption.

In the Girls Division, Ruffin carded one birdie en route to co-medalist honors. She said the strong wind that affected the field for most of the day caused her to deal with longer shots and harder iron choices.

“That wind meant there was never an even lie on the greens so I really had to pick up my short game,” Ruffin said. “I made some really good putts even though it was hard to hit the greens and my up and downs helped a lot.”

Co-medalist Rennegarbe, playing in her last AJGA event of the season, said good shots off the tee helped her card a 1-under-par 35 on the front nine.

“I was able to hit it solid and straight and that made the rest of the day easier,” she said. “It helps when you don't have to walk around the entire course and can just go straight down the fairways.”

Rennegarbe chose to take a Tournament Exemption in lieu of playing in this week's event.

Also qualifying to play in the tournament were Jamie Lavin of Deerfield, Ill., and Gianna Misenhelter of Overland Park, Kan.
