FINAL ROUND CANCELLED AT MAYORS JUNIOR ALL-STAR INVITATIONAL, ROBERTS VICTORIOUS
Feng captures fifth Junior All-Star win at The Country Club at Mirasol

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. β€” After a tumultuous morning of inclement weather, the final round of the Mayors Junior All-Star Invitational was cancelled leaving the first-round leaders victorious. Austin Roberts of Carmichael, Calif., walked away with the win in the Boys Division with a 4-under-par 68, while Yueer Cindy Feng of Orlando, Fla., claimed her fifth AJGA title this season after carding a 1-under-par 71.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Mayors Junior All-Star Invitational was an 18-hole stroke play event held at The Country Club at Mirasol's Sunset Course. The 77-player field featured players from 19 states, Canada and South Africa. The par-72 course was played at 6,904 yards for the Boys Division, and 6,008 yards for the Girls Division.

Prior to the Mayors Junior All-Star Invitational, Roberts best finish was a tie for fifth at the Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic and his low round of AJGA play came in the second round of the event when he carded a 1-over-par 71. He bested both of his personal AJGA records at The Country Club at Mirasol's Sunset Course with his impressive 4-under-par 68 performance that was good enough for the win.

β€œI've had a great summer of golf and for my first AJGA win to be an invitational makes it even more special,” the 15 year old said. β€œThis win gives me a lot of confidence and makes me want to practice that much harder so I can do it again.”

Following Roberts in a four-way tie for second, each having recorded a 2-under-par 70, were Patrick Grimes of Palo Alto, Calif., Oliver Schniederjans of Powder Springs, Ga., Jason Roets of Eikenhof, South Africa, and Patrick-Reilly McMahon of Santa Maria, Calif.

In the Girls Division, Cindy Feng continued her dominance of the Junior All-Star Series. The 12 year old has competed in five Junior All-Star events and has walked away triumphant each time. Her 1-under-par performance bested the rest of the Girls Division field by three strokes.

β€œThis invitational is the biggest tournament I've played in so far, so this feels really great,” Cindy Feng said. β€œI've been putting really well. I had a great feel for the greens and a little bit of luck that helped me here.”

Three strokes behind Cindy Feng and in a two-way tie for second, each having carded a 2-over-par 74, are Simin Feng of Orlando, and Marissa Borja of Spring Valley, Calif.
