Alexa Pano of Lake Worth, Florida, won the Girls Division at the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship by four strokes over fellow AJGA junior Ashley Menne of Surprise, Arizona. Pano opened the tournament with a 4-under-par 68, which matched the lowest round of the event. The first-round leader would go wire-to-wire after posting a second-round 4-over-par 76 and a final-round 2-over-par 74 to hold onto the four-stroke victory. Pano carded 10 birdies over the course of the tournament and finished at a tournament-total 2-over-par 218. The 2017 Rolex Junior All-American owns one AJGA victory, which came at the 2016 PDQ / Philadelphia Runner Junior. The 13-year-old is No. 16 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

Brennan-IP-Feb28.jpg

Michael Brennan of Leesburg, Virginia, won the Boys Division at the Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship at a tournament-total even-par 216. Brennan opened the tournament with an even-par 72 that included six birdies, three of which came on his final three holes of the day. The sophomore moved into second after carding a second-round 1-under-par 71. Brennan took home the title behind a final-round 1-over-par 73 that was just enough to hold off fellow AJGA juniors Ben Carr of Columbus, Georgia, and Akshay Bhatia of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Brennan finished second at the 2017 AJGA Junior All-Star at Irish Creek.

Gonzalez-IP-Feb28.jpg

Ximena Gonzalez of Queretaro, Mexico, topped the Girls Division at the Global Junior Golf – Latin American Junior Classics by four strokes. Gonzalez opened the tournament with two over-par rounds, but the high school senior would save her best golf for the final round. Gonzalez, who signed a National Letter of Intent with University of Arkansas, took home the victory behind an inspired final-round 8-under-par 64. She was the only junior in the Girls Division to finish the tournament under par at a tournament total of 3-under-par 213. Her best AJGA finish was T2 at the 2016 New Era Junior Championship.

Padilla-IP-Feb28.jpg

Juan Antonio Padilla of Ramos Arizpe, Coah., Mexico, won the Global Junior Golf – Latin American Junior Classics in dominating fashion. Padilla was the only player in the field to card multiple under-par rounds with his first-round 1-under-par 71 and his final-round 3-under-par 69, which was also the lowest of the tournament. The senior carded nine birdies for the tournament and won by five strokes at a tournament-total 1-under-par 215. Padilla’s best AJGA finish was third at the 2017 St. Francisville Area Foundation Junior at The Bluffs.
