The American Junior Golf Association’s 37th edition of the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior wrapped up on June 15 in Rancho Mirage, California. Alexa Melton of Covina, California, posted an 8-under-par 208 to win her first AJGA tournament. In the Boys Division, Blake Lorenz of Peoria, Arizona, scored 8-under-par to win on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course.

Seventy-two of the world’s best junior golfers competed in a 54-hole stroke play tournament. In addition to golf, participants and their families were treated to a Championship Dinner, Care for the Course Party, Poppie’s Pond jump and ice cream social.

With the support of Coldwell Banker corporate and local realtors and numerous volunteers, the AJGA has been able to host a memorable event each year.

In addition to its support of the tournament, Coldwell Banker supports the Coldwell Banker Shooting Star Award. The Shooting Star Award is peer-voted and given to a player in the tournament field that best displays character and integrity on the golf course.

In 2018, Evan Chien of Irvine, California, was honored with the Coldwell Banker Shooting Star Award for his dedication to giving back to the Southern California Golf Association through the AJGA’s Leadership Links program. Chien was presented the award at the Championship Dinner.

Bill Dalton, Desert Area Branch Manager, and Jason Novack were on-hand to accept an Appreciation Award and present the Coldwell Banker Shooting Star Award at the Championship Dinner, as well as attended the Awards Ceremony.

Coldwell Banker, the Palm Desert Office and The Steve and Geri Downs Team are proud and honored to be able to help support and participate in this inspiring event that brings together today's youth in the spirit of friendly competition and Camaraderie,” said Branch Manager Bill Dalton. “We look forward to being a part of this event for many years to come.”
