Ten reasons to play in an AJGA Qualifier

Test yourself on the national junior golf stage.

Qualifiers give you a vaulable peek at AJGA competition.

Schedule events on your timetable.

Whether you shoot a qualifying score or not, earn additional Performance Based Entry stars to use later. If you play in the accompanying tournament or not, you will keep the PBE earned in the Qualifier. Your schedule is the only factor.

Schedule college visits with qualifier trips.

Spend the weekend looking at universities you might be interested in attending when you travel to a qualifier. Try to meet with a golf coach, get a campus tour or spend some time visiting athletic and academic facilities. Simply being on campus might give you the opportunity to prioritize your list of potential schools.

There is no maximum.

Play in as many qualifiers as possible to earn more Performance Based Entry status.

Earn the status you need to play in more events.

Earn at least one performance star with a top 50% finish. One earned star may be all you need to gain entry to some summer ACDS Junior All-Star Series (ages 12-15) events.

There are many stars at stake.

Earn up to four performance stars in Qualifiers for AJGA Open tournaments (ages 12-19) and two stars in qualifiers for ACDS Junior All-Star Series events (ages 12-15).

Stars earned in 2016 can be used again in 2017.

Any stars earned, even if subsequently used through gaining entry into an AJGA tournament this year, can be used again next year.

Play into a tournament.

Approximately 10% of qualifier participants earn the opportunity to play into the qualifier's accompanying tournament.

Double dip if you qualify.

If you earn a qualifying score and you want to play in the accompanying event, it doesn’t “cost” any additional Performance Based Entry stars. Keep the stars you earned from the qualifier to use later, and play in the accompanying event now.

Qualifiers can lead to a college golf experience.

College golf coaches attend some AJGA Qualifiers but also value scores from any AJGA event. Playing in a qualifier alone has helped some members play college golf by giving coaches perspective on how you play in national junior golf events. With limited recruiting days, many college golf coaches rely on the AJGA for access to national junior golf scores, swing videos, profiles and contact information.
