PGA TOUR

Deutsche Bank Championship

Eight AJGA alumni finished in the top 10 of the Deutsche Bank Championship, including three AJGA tournament hosts, Jimmy Walker, Patrick Reed, and Ryan Moore.  Walker’s inaugural AJGA event, the Jimmy Walker Challenge is being held October 21-23 at his home course, The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch in Boerne, Texas.

Walker competed in 14 AJGA events, was a Rolex Junior All-American and won the 1996 Valero Junior Texas Open.

Walker finished three strokes back of champion Rory McIlroy, with a score of 12-under-par 272.  Jason Kokrak and Dustin Johnson jumped 25 spots into T8, after posting final-round scores of 5-under-par 66 for tournament totals of 9-under-par 275.

 LPGA Tour

 Manulife LPGA Classic

Three AJGA alumnae placed in the top 10 of the Manulife LPGA Classic September 1-4 in Ontario, Canada. Minjee Lee finished T2 and one stroke back of the lead posting a 15-under-par 273. Lee’s highest AJGA finish was 11th at the 2011 Thunderbird International Junior. Marina Alex and Austin Ernst finished T8 with tournament totals of 13-under-par 275.

Twenty-four-year-old Ernst was a two-time AJGA Champion and Rolex Junior All-American. She had 11 top-10 finishes in her AJGA career before attending Louisiana State University. She carded seven birdies in the final round for a score of 6-under-par 66.

Twenty-six-year-old Alex had eight top-10 finishes in her AJGA career and was a 2007 Rolex Junior All-American. Alex carded seven birdies in her final-round for a 4-under-par 68. This was her second top-10 finish this season.

Symetra Tour

Seven of the top-10 finishers of the Sioux Falls GreatLife Challenge in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, are AJGA alumnae. Eighteen-year-old, Nelly Korda, took home her first Symetra Tour victory with the score of 14-under-par 270. She had six birdies for a final-round score of 5-under-par 66 and won by three strokes. Korda was a two-time AJGA Champion and three-time Rolex Junior All-American.
