PGA TOUR
Hudson Swafford turned in a final-round 5-under-par 67 on January 22 to earn his first PGA TOUR victory in his 93rd start. The 29-year-old outlasted a third-round 59 by playing competitor Adam Hadwin to earn the one-stroke victory at the Stadium Course in La Quinta, California.
Swafford competed in 10 tournaments across two seasons with the AJGA, earning his lone victory at the 2004 Rome Junior Classic presented by State Mutual Insurance Company. The victory was part of a 2004 season that included a T5 finish at the Junior PGA Championship and culminated in Swafford being named a Rolex Junior All-American.
Swafford has competed year-round on the PGA TOUR since 2014 and becomes the next in a long line of former members of the University of Georgia men’s golf team to win on the PGA TOUR. Swafford becomes the eighth Georgia letterman to win a PGA TOUR event since 2000. All eight are AJGA alumni.
Joining Swafford in the top five were three more AJGA alumni, including an accomplished duo that finished tied for third. Two-time Rolex Junior Player of the Year Brian Harman and three-time Rolex Junior All-American Bud Cauley ended in a tie for third after posting matching 18-under-par 270s. Dominic Bozzelli, a 2008 Rolex Junior All-American before attending Auburn University, finished fifth at 17-under-par 271. AJGA tournament host Scott Stallings also posted his first top-10 finish of the year with a 15-under-par 273.
