The Wincraft / McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends has been named the recipient of the 2016 Hospitality Award by the American Junior Golf Association.

Each year, the AJGA presents awards to the tournaments with the best individual hospitality, Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament, charitable giving and volunteer base. Awards are also given to the events with engaged media and social media participation. Finally, the AJGA recognizes the year’s most outstanding golf professional, superintendent and general manager, as well as the most improved event, best new event, best Junior Golf Hub Preview Series tournament, best ACDS Junior All-Star Series tournament, best Invitational and overall tournament of the year. Tournament awards for the 2016 season will be presented on-site at 2017 tournaments.

“I sincerely appreciate being honored with the Hospitality Award,” said Jack Gaudion, co-owner of The Legend Clubs. “It is a recognition of our members’ enthusiasm for the event, staff and volunteering.”

Gaudion is a longtime supporter of the AJGA, dating back to the organization’s first years. Gaudion has worked with the AJGA since Onion Creek Country Club hosted the first Future Legends of Golf tournament in 1979. The tournament was officially the third ever on the AJGA schedule in June, 1979. Beginning in 2005 at The Legend at Brandybrook, Gaudion and The Future Legend Clubs have hosted an AJGA event every year.

The tournament earned the 2016 award after providing a warm welcome to players, parents and staff all week. Complimentary lunches were served to players and all guests during the three tournament rounds. The social activities were a huge success as players competed in a rubber duck race before an alternate shot competition broke out on the course.

“We want this event to be memorable for the players and to the families,” Gaudion said. “Golf can be a blur sometimes, and we wanted to create a positive experience for them.”

Not only did the membership create memories for the players and families, it also welcomed the AJGA staff with open arms. Gaudion and the membership places an emphasis on creating fun opportunities for the AJGA staff throughout the week.

“Whether we take them to a Milwaukee Brewers game, out on a member’s boat, or even cook them a steak dinner, we hope to make them feel like they’re home for a week,” Gaudion said.

The Wincraft / McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends will remain a mainstay on the AJGA summer calendar in 2017. The AJGA will return to The Legend at Merrill Hills in Waukesha, Wisconsin, July 11-14.
