An all-girls Invitational and three events in the Junior Golf Hub Preview Series started the spring season over the weekend. The four events, concluding on March 26, were held in California, Florida and Texas.
- ANA Junior Inspiration – Lucy Li of Redwood Shores, California, was victorious at the inaugural Invitational and earned an exemption into the LPGA Tour’s first major of the year – the ANA Inspiration. Li, who previously won the 2016 Junior PGA Championship, claimed her first AJGA Invitational title. During the final round, players competed with LPGA Legends including World Golf Hall of Fame members and past ANA Inspiration champions on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course.
- AJGA Preview at Fair Oaks Ranch (Ages 12-15) – The tournament, held as a part of the Junior Golf Hub Preview Series, won the honor of being named the AJGA’s 2,000th tournament as a part of the #AJGA2K campaign. Davis Lee of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Karoline Tuttle of Lake Mary, Florida, each won their first AJGA tournament with a 2-under-par 142 and a 5-over-par 149, respectively. Two aces were carded during the final round on the par-3 seventh hole.
- AJGA Preview at Cimarron Hills – The AJGA Preview at Cimarron Hills was held approximately 30 minutes from the PGA TOUR’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play north of Austin. Houston’s Jack Diamond topped the Boys Division at the fifth-annual event with a 7-over-par 151. Megan Chou of Los Altos, California, won the Girls Division by one stroke with two birdies on the front nine. Chou competed in the 2015 Drive, Chip & Putt Championship at Augusta National Golf Club, finishing fifth in her age division.
- Amino VITAL® / Joey D Golf Preview at Osprey Point – Massimo Mbetse of Cape Town, South Africa, eagled No. 18 during his first round and carded a tournament-low 4-under-par 68 in the final round to clinch his first AJGA victory. Daniela Gonzalez of Bogota, Colombia, won the Girls Division with a 2-over-par 146. Osprey Point Golf Course was voted the World’s Best Eco-Friendly Golf Facility by World Golf Awards in 2016.
