TOUR Highlights: May 30

PGA TOUR

At the DEAN & DELUCA Invitation at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, nine AJGA alumni finished in the top 10 of the tournament. Kevin Kisner took the title over two other AJGA alumni, Jordan Spieth and Sean O’Hair, with a 10-under-par 270. Kisner carded six birdies in the final round to hold off his competitors by one stroke.

During his time with the AJGA, Kisner was a two-time Rolex Junior All-American. He had six top-10 finishes in the 11 AJGA tournaments in which he competed. Kisner competed at the University of Georgia, and in the 2008-09 season, he was one of five Bulldogs to receive All-America honors.

LPGA Tour

The Volvik Championship at Travis Point Country Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan, saw six AJGA alumni finish in the top 10. Minjee Lee finished T2 with Sung Hyun Park. She carded 21 birdies over four rounds to end with a tournament total 18-under-par 270. This put Lee just one shot off the winner.

 Lee competed with the AJGA from 2011 to 2013. Her highest AJGA tournament finish came at the 2011 Thunderbird International Junior, where she finished 11. In 2012, Lee won the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship in a field of 156. She returned to defend her title in 2013, placing T9 with a 4-under-par 140.

PGA TOUR Champions

Four AJGA alumni finished in the top 10 of the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship in Washington D.C. It was Billy Andrade who led the way for alumni, finishing T3 with Miguel Angel Jimenez. Andrade shot at least four birdies in each of the four rounds, and finished with a tournament total 13-under-par 275.

 Andrade competed with the AJGA 1981-82. During both years, he competed in the Rolex Tournament of Champions. Andrade turned professional in 1987, and has since entered in over 300 professional tournaments.
