Justin Thomas took home the Wannamaker Trophy at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. This was Thomas' first major victory after three other TOUR wins already this year. Thomas posted a 3-under-par 68 to win by two over Francesco Molinari, Patrick Reed and Louis Oosthuizen. The win was especially meaningful, as Thomas is a third generation PGA club professional. Thomas' dad, Mike, is the PGA Professional at Harmony Landing Country Club, home to the AJGA's Strategic Communications / Justin Thomas Junior Championship presented by Phocus. This year's event marked the second straight year Justin Thomas hosted an AJGA tournament.

Thomas started the day in fourth place, two shots off the lead of fellow AJGA alum Kevin Kisner. At one point in the final round, five players were tied for the lead, but a couple of clutch putts and a chip-in on No. 13 sealed the win for Thomas. Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler were on-hand to congratulate the Kentucky-native on his win.

Earlier in the year, Thomas became the youngest player to shoot a 59 in PGA TOUR history at the Sony Open and broke the U.S. Open record with a 9-under-par 63 at Erin Hills in Wisconsin. He will also represent the United States at the Presidents Cup. As a junior, Thomas won three AJGA events, including the 2009 Haas Family Invitational.

Other alumni highlights:

  • T2, three-time Rolex Junior All-American Patrick Reed
  • T5, two-time AJGA champion Rickie Fowler
  • T9, Olympic bronze medalist Matt Kuchar

Gooch tied for the lowest round of his career with an 8-under-par 64 to finish one shot back at 24-under-par 264. The Oklahoma State University alumnus played in 26 AJGA events, including a win at the 2008 Aldila Junior at Oak Tree. The Rolex Junior All-American also finished ahead of fellow alum Chesson Hadley, Nicholas Thompson, Lanto Griffin and Tom Lovelady. This is Gooch's fourth top-10 finish of the season in 17 events.

Other alumni highlights:

  • 3rd, two-time AJGA champion Chesson Hadley
