Tournament Storylines

The Legends history
The Legends Country Club hosts the UHY LLP CPA's Junior Championship for the fourth year in a row. The Legends has also hosted multiple championship qualifiers including the 2015 USGA U.S. Senior Open Qualifier and the 2017 USGA U.S. Open Qualifier. The course is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design featuring uniquely large bent grass greens with Bermuda grass fairways.
UHY LLP will partner with the AJGA for the first time in 2018
UHY LLP is a licensed independent CPA firm that performs attest services in an alternative practice structure with UHY Advisors, Inc. and its subsidiary entities.
College Commitments
Fourteen players in the field have committed to play college golf, seven of which will begin school this fall. Columbia, Missouri, native Ross Steelman is committed to playing golf with the University of Missouri in 2019. Fifteen players from Missouri will also be playing for college scholarships, including Saint Louis natives Alex Garza, Peter Weaver and Parker Perry.
AJGA Champions
Five past AJGA champions are featured in this week's field. Thirteen-year-old Sophie Linder of Carthage, Tennessee, recently won the 2018 Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation Junior All-Star, and Jiewu Rao of Guangzhou, China, took home his first AJGA victory at the 2018 AJGA Preview at Château Élan. Local player Ross Steelman of Columbia, Missouri, won the 2016 Lockton Kansas City Junior.
College bound: 23 players have committed to play golf at the college of their choice.

Top Players to Watch

James Roller, Jenks, Okla. (2020)
Roller has four top-20 AJGA finishes in his repertoire, including a victory at the 2017 Cameron McCormick Junior All-Star. This past year, the rising junior led his high school golf team to win the OSSAA Class 2A State Golf championship. The 16-year-old most recently finished T17 at the Insperity Invitational / Patrick Reed AJGA Junior Championship.
Ross Steelman, Columbia, Mo. (2019)
Steelman is a University of Missouri commit looking to earn his second AJGA victory. In 2016, Steelman won the Lockton Kansas City Junior by four strokes. Overall, the rising senior has three top-10 finishes in the AJGA. This past May, Steelman claimed his first individual state title with an 8-under-par 136.
Winston Margaritis, Collierville, Tenn. (2018)
Margaritis has played in over 25 AJGA events since 2013, earning a victory at the 2014 Bass Pro Shops / Payne Stewart Junior Championship. The 2018 graduate has seven top-10 finishes in AJGA events and recently competed in the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands.
Kynadie Adams, Gallatin, Tenn. (2022)
Currently T104 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Adams was named to the 2017 ACDS Junior All-Star Team. Adams most recently finished fifth at the 2018 AJGA Las Vegas Junior at Reflection Bay presented by Live View Golf. In 2017, the 14-year-old won the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour - College Prep Series at Vanderbilt and the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour - Nashville Junior Shootout.
Auston Kim, St Augustine, Fla. (2018)
A Vanderbilt University commit, Kim is looking to earn her first AJGA victory after finishing fourth at the Daniel Berger Junior Championship in June 2018. Kim has played in the AJGA since 2013 and has a total of 19 top-20 finishes and ten top-10 finishes. Kim is a Rolex Junior All-American and has been name twice to the Transamerica Scholastic Honor Roll.
Sophie Linder, Carthage, Tenn. (2023)
Thirteen-year-old Linder has competed in eight AJGA events since her career started in 2017. Of those, Linder has recorded seven top-20 finishes and a victory at the 2018 Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation Junior All-Star, finishing with a 7-under-par 209.

Media Accommodations

The UHY LLP CPA's Junior Championship will have AJGA communications representatives on hand to assist media throughout the week. Prior to the tournament the AJGA will provide information about the event and its participants, as well as assist with player interviews.

After each round, media officials on-site will write a recap with the day's results. These will be emailed to all media outlets. Interviews with AJGA Tournament Directors, Tournament Chairmen and juniors may be conducted before or after tournament rounds.

About the AJGA

Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2018, the American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls, ages 12-19) of more than 6,900 members from 50 states and 60 foreign countries. Through initiatives like the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant, a financial assistance program, and Leadership Links, a service-oriented platform that teaches juniors charitable-giving skills, the AJGA fosters the growth of golf’s next generation.
