White Shoots Tournament-Low 66 to Take the Lead at the Scissortail Junior Championship
Park emerges as the outright leader at the Golf Club of Oklahoma

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -Taylor White of Dakota Dunes, S.D., carded a 6-under-par 66, Wednesday to land atop the Boys Division leaderboard at the Scissortail Junior Championship. Kaitlin Park of Tustin Ranch, Calif., leads the Girls Division after posting a second-round score of even-par 72 for a two-round total of 2-over-par 146 at the Golf Club of Oklahoma.

The Scissortail Junior Championship is a 54-hole stroke play tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at the Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow, Okla. The tournament field consists of 99 boys and girls ages 12-18 from 15 states and Canada. The Boys Division is playing the par-72 course at 6,928 yards while the Girls Division is playing at 6,037 yards.

White marked six birdies and no bogeys on his way to a tournament-low round of 66. White said that becoming more familiar with the course during the first round, helped his game during the second round.

I put the ball more in play where I could take advantage of it today, White said. I put it on the correct side of the fairways and at the pins. I utilized the greens and understood the course more.

Donald Stimble of Shell Knob, Mo., and Branson Davis of Mckinney, Texas will join White in the leader boys pairing tomorrow afternoon, finishing second and third, respectively. Dylan McClure of Argyle, Texas is in fourth while Jonathan Chang of Valencia, Calif., Jared Carver of Weston, Fla., Sam Humphreys of Edmond, Okla., and Luke Kwon of Carrollton, Texas sit in a tie for fifth.

In the Girls Division, Park will look to hold on to a 4-stroke lead heading into Thursday's final round. After going 3-over-par on the front nine Wednesday, Park drained three birdies on the back nine to finish the day at even-par. The 2012 graduate said she is building confidence heading into the final round.

I feel pretty good, Park said. I think that if I can keep my putting stroke and tempo, I can play pretty well.

In second place, four strokes behind Park, is Christine Lin of Austin, Texas who sits at 6-over-par 150. Jennifer Park of Carrollton, Texas is third at 8-over-par 152.
