Career-Low 65 by Fischer Tops Boys Division at AJGA Franklin Junior presented by Franklin American Mortgage Company
Then holds three-shot lead in Girls Division at Vanderbilt Legends Club

FRANKLIN, Tenn. Six birdies propelled Chandler Fischer of Nicholasville, Ky., to card a career-low 65 to lead the Boys Division at 8-under-par 134 after round two of the AJGA Franklin Junior presented by Franklin American Mortgage Company. Gabriella Then of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., shot a 4-under-par 68 to hold a three shot lead in the Girls Division.

The AJGA Franklin Junior presented by Franklin American Mortgage Company is a 54-hole stroke-play tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at Vanderbilt Legends Club  South Course. The field features 75 boys and 24 girls, ages 12-18, from 17 states and Mexico. The Boys Division is playing the par-71 course at 7,041 yards. The Girls Division is playing the par-72 course at 6,100 yards.

A bogey-free day gave Fischer his first ever lead in a tournament. He birdied three of the last five holes and was able to utilize his wedge to put him in position.

My wedge game was really good today because I was able to get up and down from the middle of the fairway, Fischer said. I really felt like things were going well for me after No. 7. It's a really hard hole and I was able to hit [the green] from about 200 yards and make my putt.

In second from Lilburn, Ga., is Ted Moon who shot a 4-under-par 67 to hold a two-day total of 6-under-par 136. Tied for third are Cameron Beal of Bowling Green, Ky., and Korey Ward of West Chester, Ohio, who hold a tournament total of 4-under-par 138. Alec Tahy of Dayton, Ohio is in fifth place after shooting a 5-under-par 66 to bring his total to a 3-under-par 139.

Then capitalized on great approach shots to put her in position for birdie opportunities throughout the round.

I thought that No. 10 was a good hole for me, Then said. I laid up and hit my approach shot to eight feet and putted for birdie. I knew after that hole that I would have a chance to go low.

Janie Jackson of Huntsville, Ala., and Kendall Martindale of Jefferson City, Tenn., are tied in second with even-par 144.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 countries. Titleist, the AJGA's National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association's success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA's second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. Former AJGA juniors have compiled more than 400 victories on the PGA and LPGA Tours. AJGA alumni include Charles Howell III, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel.
