College Round-up


AJGA alum Adam Long

Arizona State's Niklas Lemke took home the victory last week at the Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Classic. His final round 6-under-par 66 left him at 1-over for the tournament and one shot ahead of Adam Long of Duke. Duke took home the top team honors led by Long and teammate Michael Schauchner who finished three over tied for third.

University of Washington's John Wise shot a 7-under-par 209 tournament total last week at the Opus Northwest Husky Invitational. He defeated Lucas Lee of UCLA by one shot, by UCLA was still able to hold on and take home the team title.

Dan Woltman of the University of Wisconsin shot a 65-70-67–202 tournament total last week at the VCU/Mattaponi Springs Shootout. The sophomore's 14-under-par was three shots better than Kent State's Marc Bourgeois who finished second. University of Louisville took home the team victory.

Rachel Newren of BYU went deep and shot a 10-under-par tournament total at thte Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate last week. Her 70-69-67–206 was three strokes better than Dawn Shockley of the University of Denver. Shockley helped lead Denver to top team honors.

Princeton took home team medalist honors last week at the Yale Women's Fall Intercollegiate. They were led by Annika Welander and Michelle Grilli who finished first and second, respectively.

Other Alumni in Men's College Golf...

John Lorenzo of La Salle shot a 3-under-par at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational last week to claim individual honors. George Washington University finished first in the team division...Frank McAuliffe of Oakland University helped lead his school to team honors after shooting a 3-under-par 213 and took home the individual honors as well...Matthew McMahon of DePaul won in a playoff at the John Dallio Memorial last week. Northern Iowa took home the team victory led by Jordan Weber who finished fifth...Joel Myrick of Southern Mississippi shot a 3-under-par 213 at the Adams Cup of Newport last week. Tyler Hitchcock of the University of South Florida finished second and lifted his team to top honors...Central Connecticut's Brendon Ray finished first at the Dartmouth Invitational. Binghamton finished first in the team division led by Jeff Wolniewicz who finished second.

Other Alumni in Women's College Golf...

Idaho's Kelly Nakashima finished first at the Inland Empire Women's Intercollegiate last week after shooting a 3-over-par 219. Idaho went on to finish first in the team division...Amanda Mathis of Mississippi State finished first at the Wildcat Fall Invitational last weekend. Memphis won the team title.

Professional Round-up

Tiger Woods earned his sixth straight victory last weekend at the WGC-American Express Championship. His eight stroke victory lifted him to his 54th career PGA TOUR victory.

ACE

The Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program provides financial assistance to junior golfers who wish to play in AJGA events. Its goal is to give top-flight golf opportunities to young golfers regardless of financial resources. This program helps to fulfill the AJGA’s mission of developing young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age. This program gives juniors all the tools necessary to donate their time, talent and resources to local charities and the AJGA youth development programs.
