Golf World to Sponsor Two AJGA Events

GOLF WORLD TO SPONSOR TWO AJGA EVENTS
Magazine to sponsor events in South Carolina and California

Golf World, the nation’s oldest golf magazine, will sponsor two American Junior Golf Association events in 2008, the AJGA announced Friday.

The Golf World Preseason Junior at Furman will be held at Furman University Golf Course, Greenville, S.C., April 11-13, while the Golf World Preseason Junior at Rancho Mirage will take place at the Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, Calif., May 9-11. Golf World will become the title sponsor of both events in 2008 and 2009.

Preseason events are built into a series designed specifically for first-time AJGA members or those members who have not yet participate in an AJGA Open event, AJGA Invitational or Junior All-Star Series event in the current calendar year and/or the previous calendar year. Fields are filled on a first-come, first-served basis after the tournament applications are released with 50 percent of the initial tournament field reserved for
rising seniors (2009 graduates).

“The AJGA is the leader in young player development. Golf World is the leader in golf news and information,” said Tom Nolan, publisher of Golf World. “I am keenly interested in supporting the careers of our next generation of golfers and readers and I’m very proud to partner with the AJGA in these events.”

Golf World, a Condé Nast Publication, has been the indispensable weekly source for breaking news, in-depth profiles and incisive commentary on the sport of golf since 1947.

Leadership Links

What is Leadership Links?

Leadership Links is a new program whereby the AJGA is able to further its mission to help develop young men and women by teaching charitable giving skills and service-oriented practices at an early age. This program gives juniors all the tools necessary to donate their time, talent and resources to local charities and the AJGA youth development programs.
