Equipment Lists

The United States Golf Association has compiled a list of driving clubs that do not conform and golf balls that do conform. These clubs are prohibited from use in any round of golf conducted under the Rules of Golf. This includes competitions conducted by the American Junior Golf Association. They have also added a Conforming Driver Head list.

It is recommended that all players check the status of their driver, golf ball and driver head prior to their round. The penalty for playing a shot with equipment not allowed by the USGA is disqualification.

As of January 1, 2014, the AJGA implemented the condition of competition for all AJGA championships and qualifiers that limits players to clubs manufactured with grooves and/or punch marks that conform to all aspects of the Rules of Golf, including those that were made effective on January 1, 2010. This Local Rule reads as follows:

"The player's clubs must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications in the Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010."

To determine if a club or set of clubs conforms to the new specifications, players should first search the Informational Club Database (Grooves). Any additional questions should be referred to the USGA. Please should make sure their clubs are conforming before arriving at an AJGA event.
