Benjamin Bichet, Manchester, Mass. (2015)
A senior at Manchester Essex Regional High School, Bichet scored a 2300 on the SAT and carries a GPA of 4.83. The co-captain of the high school varsity golf team posted perfect scores of 5 on three Advanced Placement exams and retained a score of 4 on a fourth AP exam. Bichet’s career-best AJGA finish came in 2014 at the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Sugarloaf where he placed T7 in his third AJGA start. In 2011, Bichet was the first-ever freshman to be named team captain, a position he has held each year. Additionally, the 2011 team Sportsmanship Award recipient is active in his community, volunteering each month to prepare and serve meals to the homeless and underprivileged in his area.
Mike Blasey, Potomac, Md. (2015)
A senior at Landon School, Blasey scored a 2170 on the SAT and earned the distinction of AP Scholar in 2014. He was selected as Senior Prefect at Landon, a leadership role voted on by students and faculty. His 2014 season is highlighted by two top-20 showings, including a T10 finish at the AJGA Junior hosted by Morgan Hoffmann in August and a T19 showing at the AJGA Annapolis Junior in July.
Beau Briggs, Covington, La. (2015)
A senior at St. Paul’s School, Briggs scored a 33 on the ACT, holds a GPA of 4.45 and earned the distinction of AP Scholar in 2014. Briggs serves as a mentor to the Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Tour and raised $17,000 for the Covington Food Bank, The Kelly Gibson Foundation and the AJGA’s Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant Program. The University of Mississippi commit’s best performance of 2014 was a T8 showing at the Arrowhead Junior at The Bluffs.
Michael Brown, Birmingham, Ala. (2015)
A senior at Mountain Brook High School, Brown scored a 33 on the ACT and holds a 3.94 GPA, which ranks 68th in his class of 339. Brown has volunteered at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church since 2005, committing up to 120 hours of service annually. In 2014, he accumulated three top-10 AJGA finishes, including a T3 showing at the Will Claxton Junior presented by TestDrive.com.
Hoke Carlton, Charlotte, N.C. (2015)
A senior at Myers Park High School, Carlton earned back-to-back top-10 finishes at the only AJGA events he competed in during 2014. Carlton took 10th at the New Era Junior Championship and second at the Lipari Energy Junior Championship presented by City of London. In the classroom, Carlton achieved a 34 on the ACT, 5.25 GPA and was also named a Duke TIP Scholar. Carlton serves as the captain of his high school golf team and is an active Eagle Scout, with his service project benefiting the First Tee of Charlotte.
Noah Edmondson, Davidson, N.C. (2015)
Edmondson, a senior at Cannon School, scored a 2020 on the SAT and holds a 4.01 GPA. He participated in three 2014 AJGA events, taking eighth at the IZOD AJGA Championship. Edmondson also serves as the captain of his high school golf team and participates in Backpack Ministry where he delivers a backpack of food to a boy in need in his community every week. The senior has used his passion for golf to raise more than $4 thousand for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Jack Nicklaus Foundation.
Gerard Reilly Erhardt, Greensboro, N.C. (2015)
A senior at Bishop McGuinness High School, Erhardt scored a 1950 on the SAT and carries a GPA of 5.15. He was recognized as an “AP Scholar with Honor” by the College Board for his high AP test scores and volunteers with maCares, which provides school supplies and other necessities to homeless children and families in his community. He earned the Most Valuable Player award for his high school golf team and has led them to several state championships. During his 2014 AJGA season, the Maryland verbal commit had three top-20 finishes, including a T7 showing at the JoS. A. Bank / David Leadbetter Junior Championship.
Kevin Jackson, Atlanta, Ga. (2015)
A senior at Marist School, Jackson scored a 35 on the ACT and carries a GPA of 4.37. Jackson helped Marist win the State Golf Championship in 2014 and currently serves as an Emmaus Board Member, one of five selected students to serve as a liaison between school faculty and students in all spiritual matters. In 2014, Jackson recorded two top-10 finishes, including a T5 showing at the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior and a tie for eighth at the AJGA Junior at Bethesda.
Paul Lei, Middleton, Mass. (2015)
A senior at Phillips Exeter Academy, Lei is an active leader throughout his high school, serving as the Debate Team co-captain, class treasurer and representative in the student government, Relay for Life team captain and planning committee manager and business manager for two school publications – the PEAL, Exeter’s student life magazine, and Matter Magazine, New England’s first high school science and technology publication. In addition to his scholastic extracurriculars, Lei is also the co-captain of the varsity golf team and scored a 2350 on the SAT. In 2014, Lei notched his career-best AJGA finish, posting a three-day total of 218 to take second place at the CorseMax / Philadelphia Runner Junior. Lei opened his season with a T14 showing at the Ravenwood Junior Championship and has one other top-10 finish in his AJGA career.
Seiya Liu, Beverly Hills, Calif. (2015)
A senior at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, Liu carries a 4.83 GPA and scored a 34 on the ACT. Liu serves as the Treasurer of the National Honor Society and he participates in the AJGA’s Leadership Links program, raising money for organizations such as The First Tee of Sarasota, the American Cancer Society and the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. On the golf course, Liu earned two top-10 finishes in 2014 including a tie for ninth at the Goodman Networks Junior at Traditions and a T5 showing at the New Era Junior Championship.
Vinay Ramesh, Newtown, Pa. (2015)
A senior at Pennsbury High School, Ramesh scored 2280 on the SAT and holds a GPA of 4.67. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has volunteered more than 150 hours with various programs in his community, including time at the St. Mary’s Medical Center and the Playing Fore Their Future initiative through the AJGA’s Leadership Links program. His 2014 AJGA season consisted of three top-15 finishes including a T8 finish at the CorseMax / Philadelphia Runner Junior.
Tyler Tsay, Los Angeles, Calif. (2015)
Tsay, a senior at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, holds a 5.1 GPA and scored a 2320 on the SAT. An avid writer, Tsay founded several literary magazines including The Blueshift Journal, an online journal that features young writers from all over the country. Tsay is also captain of the varsity golf team and in 2014, he recorded his career-best AJGA Open finish at the AJGA / CJGA Junior Championship tying for ninth.
