This spring, the American Junior Golf Association welcomed 34 talented Traveling Interns to its nationally recognized internship program, including two serving as Tournament Assistants. In March, all interns gathered at AJGA headquarters in Braselton, Georgia, before being divided into four teams and deployed across the country to help run tournaments in various cities and states.
The 2025 spring intern class represents an array of backgrounds, with students hailing from 32 universities and 20 states. Each team is composed of six Operations Interns and two Communications Interns.
Operations Interns support the majority of the on- course logistics. They handle setup and breakdown, assist with rules officiating and manage essential tournament tasks. Just as importantly, they develop leadership and customer service skills that are crucial to executing successful events.
This internship was everything I hoped for and so much more. Each week brought a new course, a new tournament director, and new challenges—but through it all, I learned how to be flexible and focused.
Communications Interns are responsible for on-site media coverage, including photography, social media, press releases and interviews. They also contribute to tournament operations, gaining a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to manage a sporting event. The internship offers a deep dive into the world of sports communications and storytelling.
Learning how to balance so many responsibilities has taught me that everything I’ve accomplished has come through grit and grind. I’ve grown so much and I can happily say this has been the most educational internship I’ve been part of.
In addition to professional development, interns had the opportunity to explore new cities, attend sporting events, visit landmarks, and experience regional cultures, making the internship as memorable off the course as it was on it. Along the way, they collaborated with elite tournament hosts and sponsors including LPGA star Nelly Korda, TaylorMade, and Adidas.
This group of interns continues the AJGA tradition of developing future leaders in the sports industry. Their journey is a testament to why the AJGA Internship is considered one of the best in business.
