Former AJGA member Maria Fassi won the 2017-2018 ANNIKA Award presented by 3M. The Award recognizes the most outstanding female golfer in Division I for the 2017-2018 season, as voted on by their coaches, peers and golf media.

In her junior season at the University of Arkansas, Fassi won six collegiate events en route to being named the SEC’s Women’s Golf Player of the Year. The Pachuca Hidalgo, Mexico, native was also named a Women’s Golf Coaches Association First-Team All-American.

In her three-year AJGA career, Fassi had four top-10 finishes to her name. Her best finish came at the 2013 Genesis Shootout presented by the Valero Texas Open where she earned runner-up honors. Fassi also qualified for the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open as a 17-year-old.

By winning the Award, Fassi receives an exemption to compete in the LPGA’s 2018 Evian Championship in September.

To win the Award, Fassi edged out fellow AJGA alumnae Jennifer Kupcho and Lilia Vu. Vu, a junior at the University of California, Los Angeles, is the top-ranked golfer in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings and was also a 2018 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American. Kupcho, a junior at Wake Forest University, is No. 3 in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings and won the 2018 NCAA Women’s Golf Individual National Championship.
