Performance Policy

The AJGA’s Performance Policy is designed to ensure that players competing in AJGA Qualifiers and Tournaments are prepared for the high level of AJGA competition. While the AJGA offers events featuring players of a wide variety of skill level, it would be a disservice to the growth and development of a junior golfer to play in an AJGA Qualifier or Tournament if the event is the first competitive round they have ever played.

Prior to applying for an AJGA Qualifier or Tournament, please see the chart below that summarizes AJGA event yardage and scoring averages over a recent three-year period. Players who are not yet capable of competing in an AJGA Qualifier or Tournament are encouraged to play in local, state, and regional events prior to applying to compete in AJGA competitions.

A Performance Violation occurs if a player takes 60 or more strokes to play 9 holes in an AJGA competition round. This includes the first 9 holes played in a shotgun start round, or any nine hole score in a tee-time start round. A player who commits a Performance Violation will be required to withdraw after 9 holes. The player will receive a full refund of their event fee and be withdrawn from any upcoming AJGA events they have applied to.

To be able to apply to a future AJGA Qualifier or Tournament, those who receive a Performance Violation will need to submit for reinstatement when ready with the Senior Vice President of Tournament Operations.
