Sophia Popov entered the AIG Women's Open without a win on the LPGA or Symetra Tours and left a major champion after finishing at 7-under-par 277, two ahead of Jasmine Suwannapura. Popov earned entry into the Women's Open after a top-10 finish at the LPGA's Marathon Classic two weeks prior. She carded three rounds under par, including a solid final round of 3-under-par 68 to get her first win.

Popov was a member of the European Team at the 2009 PING Junior Solheim Cup.

Dustin Johnson earned his 22nd PGA TOUR win after dominating the field at The Northern Trust. He won by 11 strokes and would finished the tournament at 30-under-par 254, the second lowest 72-hole score in PGA TOUR history. With his win, Johnson moved to No. 1 in the world and holds a 92-point lead over Justin Thomas in the FedExCup standings.

In his AJGA career, Johnson played in six events with his best finish coming at the 2001 AJGA Greater Greensboro Chrysler Junior where he finished T10.

Curtis Luck won the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship to earn his first Korn Ferry Tour win. Luck carded three-straight rounds in the 60s to begin the tournament and ended with an even-par 71. He would finish the tournament at 11-under-par 273 and win by one.

Luck played in one AJGA event during his junior golf career. He finished T28 at the 2014 Thunderbird International Junior.
