Professional Recap

After withdrawing from the last two Sony Opens due to injury, AJGA alumnus Kevin Na nearly withdrew again this year after experiencing rib pain the day before the tournament kicked off. Luckily for Na, his new traveling trainer managed to relieve the pain, setting Na up for a week he won't soon forget.

Na secured a spot on the weekend after posting rounds of 3-under-par 67 and 4-under-par 66, respectively. The 37-year-old proceeded to vault up the leaderboard on moving day, firing a 9-under-par 61, which matched the lowest round of the week. Na remained in shouting distance throughout the final round, ultimately pulling away with four birdies over his final six holes to earn his fifth PGA TOUR win by one stroke at 21-under-par 259.

This victory marks the fourth TOUR season in a row in which Na has registered a win, joining Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau as the only players with a similar active streak going.

In his AJGA career, Na was a two-time First Team Rolex Junior All-American who won five national junior golf tournaments. Four of those victories came in 2000, at the Scott Robertson Memorial Junior, the Junior Orange Bowl International, the AJGA PING Phoenix Junior Championship and the AJGA Nabisco/Legendary Headwear Junior at Mission Hills.
