Professional Recap

AJGA alumnus Hudson Swafford stormed back in the final round of The American Express to secure his third PGA TOUR win. Starting the final round three shots off the lead, Swafford fell further back after bogeying the first hole of the day. Despite the less than ideal start, Swafford kept his composure and bounced back with a birdie on No. 2. From there, he went on a tear, carding birdies on Nos. 5, 6 and 8 to make the turn at 3-under-par 33.

The University of Georgia alum was only just getting started. Swafford made the turn and opened his back nine with three straight birdies. After going bogey-birdie-bogey on Nos. 13-15, Swafford found himself in a battle at the top of the leaderboard with three holes to go. Making the most of the moment, Swafford hit a 7-iron to eight feet on the par-5 No. 16 and followed that up by sinking the eagle putt. He ultimately sealed the deal on No. 17 with a birdie on the island green.

Swafford competed in AJGA tournaments from 2004-05. The 2004 Rolex Junior All-American won the 2004 Burgett H. Mooney, Jr. Rome Classic and had three additional top-10 finishes in AJGA competition.

AJGA alumna Danielle Kang got back in the winner's circle at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. In the first event of the 2022 LPGA season, Kang got off to a hot start with an opening 4-under-par 68. She followed that up with a flawless 5-under-par 67 that featured an eagle and three birdies. Kang continued her stellar play into the third round, where she posted a bogey-free 3-under-par 69 to get within one of fellow AJGA alumna Nelly Korda, who is No. 1 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.

Kang kept her bogey-free streak alive early in the final round of the Tournament of Champions, going 1-under through the first seven holes before making a bogey on the par-4 No. 8. Between the first and final rounds, Kang went a total of 51 holes without carding a bogey. After making that bogey on No. 8, Kang made her charge, firing five birdies between Nos. 9-15. Despite making another bogey on the par-4 No. 16, Kang's lead was enough for her to finish with two pars and close out the tournament with a 4-under-par 68 and three-shot victory at 16-under-par 272.

Kang's AJGA career took place from 2006-09. The two-time Rolex Junior All-American had 10 top-10 finishes out of 20 AJGA tournament appearances. Since turning professional, Kang has had multiple stints as an AJGA tournament host in Las Vegas.

Amateur Recap

AJGA alumnus Aaron Jarvis made history at the 2022 Latin America Amateur Championship. Jarvis started the final round in a crowded pack at the top of the leaderboard. There was a ton of movement at the top of the leaderboard throughout the final round, which included Jarvis falling off after carding a bogey and double bogey on Nos. 8 and 9. Despite the setback, Jarvis maintained his composure and stormed back with four birdies on the back nine. Though Jarvis dropped a shot after finding the water on the par-3 No. 16, his lead was enough at that point for him to secure the win at 7-under-par 281.

With the win, the Cayman Islands native became the first golfer from the Caribbean to win the Latin America Amateur Championship. He also secured his place in the 2022 Masters Tournament, The 150th Open at St Andrews, The 127th Amateur Championship, the U.S. Amateur Championship and the final stages of qualifying for the 2022 U.S. Open.

Jarvis competed in five AJGA tournaments between 2018 and 2020. He finished T3 at the 2018 AJGA Preview at The Seagate (Ages 12-15) and then he was the qualifier medalist at the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational Junior honoring Jim Bell.
