AJGA alumnus Justin Thomas raised the Wanamaker Trophy at Southern Hills Country Club as a two-time PGA Championship winner, getting his 15th PGA TOUR win in the process.
Thomas kicked off his Major Championship week with consecutive rounds of 3-under-par 67, which left him just three shots back of 36-hole leader Will Zalatoris, who was seeking his first TOUR title. Sitting in third heading into the weekend, Thomas struggled on moving day, shooting a disappointing 74, which pulled him behind six players, none of whom had ever won a major before.
Despite being seven shots behind the leader to start the day, Thomas knew that a good round could give him a chance given how tough the course was playing. The former World No. 1 chose to focus on his own game, and he eventually climbed up the leaderboard with three birdies on the back nine to join Zalatoris at second, just a stroke behind the leader Mito Pereira who had one hole to go. With all eyes on Pereira, he did the unimaginable and made double bogey on No. 18. With his chance at a first major title now in the rearview mirror, the golf world was now focused on the playoff between Thomas and fellow AJGA alumnus Zalatoris.
Oddly enough, the two golfers share a unique moment in AJGA history. Just a day after Zalatoris won the Junior All-Star at Ballantyne in Charlotte, North Carolina, Thomas earned his first Invitational victory at the 2009 FootJoy Invitational in Greensboro, North Carolina. The two players only competed against each other at one AJGA tournament, the 2010 FootJoy Invitational, where Zalatoris finished T56 while Thomas finished T2. Just like in 2010, Thomas managed the better result, defeating Zalatoris with birdies on the first two holes of the aggregate playoff.
Thomas was a two-time Rolex Junior All-American who won three AJGA tournaments between 2008-2009.

AJGA alumnus Trevor Cone claimed his second Korn Ferry Tour title at the AdventHealth Championship at Blue Hills Country Club in Missouri.
The Virginia Tech alum opened with 7-under 65 in the first round, sharing the lead with two other players. After a 5-under 67 second round with an eagle-birdie-birdie start on Nos. 1-3, Cone took solo lead heading into the weekend.
A steady round of 2-under 70 left the North Carolina native one stroke behind the leader Sam Stevens with 18 holes to go. Though it moved him down the leaderboard in round three, a final round 2-under 70 with a clutch birdie putt on No. 18, which was his 23rd birdie of the week, earned Cone a one-stroke victory at Blue Hills Country Club.
During his junior golf career between 2007-2011, Cone competed at nine AJGA tournaments, with his best finish being second place at the 2008 Sta-Green® Junior All-Star Championship.
