AJGA alumnus Rickie Fowler made huge strides at The CJ Cup, earning his best PGA TOUR finish since the 2019 Honda Classic, where he finished T2.
Fowler played exceptional golf through the first three rounds, missing only five greens in total on his way to grabbing the 54-hole lead at 21-under-par 195. The five-time PGA TOUR winner ultimately finished T3 at 22-under-par 266, but it was a big step in the right direction.
Fowler led the field in strokes gained: tee to green for the first time since the 2017 Houston Open. In addition, he jumped from No. 128 to No. 82 in the World Golf Rankings.
The two-time Rolex Junior All-American had quite the junior golf career, earning four wins in national junior golf competitions between 2004-06. His lone AJGA Invitational victory came in 2006 at the HP Boys Junior Championship.
Since turning pro, Fowler has given back to junior golf by partnering with Leadership Links . As an incentive for the participants, Fowler takes time out of his schedule each year to play nine holes with the top fundraisers.
