Heckmann holds Boys Division

Sutikto’s six-stroke lead captures first

  • Lukas Heckmann of Middleton, Wisconsin, breaks away from the tight knit Boys Division to claim victory with a 5-over-par 147.
  • Heckmann completed his comeback after finishing round one just two strokes behind first place. The 2019 graduate carded four birdies on the day to help propel the Wisconsin native to the top of the leaderboard.
  • Two boys finished T2 including Patrick Mattar of Chicago, who shot an even par 71 to earn the junior the lowest-round-of-the-day honors. Mattar carded an eagle on hole No. 10 to go along with three birdies for his round. Tanner Moore of Bryon Center, Michigan also finished T2 with a tournament total of 7-over-par 149.
  • Minnesota natives Payton Miller of Maple Grove, and Jack Johnson of Chaska, finished T4 at 9-over-par 151.
  • Borina Sutikto of Fremont, California went wire-to-wire with another fine performance in her final round at Meadowbrook Country Club.
  • Sutikto began the morning with a six-stroke lead in the Girls Division and continued her dominate performance, finishing the tournament at 8-over-par 152. The young junior was quick to shift credit when asked about her performance.
  • “I really just want to thank my parents and coaches,” said Sutikto. “Without them this wouldn’t be as special.”
  • Finishing T2 is Ariel Chang of Macomb Township, Michigan, and Katelyn Kuc of Carmel, Indiana with a tournament total of 14-over-par 158.
  • Mara Flaherty of Naperville, Illinois finishes in fourth place with the lowest-round-of-the-day honors for the Girls Division. Flaherty recorded an eagle on hole No. 3 and four birdies throughout the day to give her a final round score of 1-over-par 73 and a tournament total of 15-over-par 159.

About the Junior Golf Hub Preview Series

The AJGA Preview at Champions is one of 15 events held as part of the Junior Golf Hub Preview Series. The Junior Golf Hub Preview Series is designed specifically for AJGA members who have not yet played/been accepted to an AJGA tournament. This series, conducted during the spring, offers these new and returning members the opportunity to start building Performance Based Entry status before application deadlines arrive for summer Open and ACDS Junior All-Star Series events.
