Kim, Harashima Earn Boys Division co-medalist honors

Choi Leads back-to-back days to win Girls Division medalist honors

  • Carson Kim of Fullerton, California, and Rei Harashima of Chula Vista, California, tied for the Boys Division medalist honors after the final round. Kim, who led by two shots over Harashima after the first round, carded a final round score of 2-over-par 74 for a tournament total of 69-74 1-under-par 143.
  • Harashima finished the first round tied for third after shooting 1-under-par 71. In the final round, Harashima had five birdies which helped him shoot even-par 72, for a tournament total of 71-72 1-under-par 143.
  • After his round, Harashima had this to say regarding his win: “This is my first big victory. The first of many.”

  • Seo Yoon Choi of Fullerton, California, led back-to-back days before clinching the Girls Division medalist honors. During her final round Choi had three birdies and carded a score of 3-over-par 75, for a tournament total of 70-75 1-over-par 145.
  • Choi said this about her final round and victory: “I cannot believe I finished in first place for this tournament. I hope to do my very best at the next tournament as well.”
  • Two boys tied for third after the final round. Brian Xu of San Diego, shot 71-74 for a tournament total of 1-over-par 145 and Eric Lee of Fullerton, California, shot 72-73 for a tournament total of 1-over-par 145.
  • In the Girls Division there was a three-way tie for second place between Crista Izuzquiza of Coronado, California, Irene Park of Rowland Heights, California, and Yewon Jang of Roseville, California. Izuzquiza finished with a tournament total score 73-76 5-over-par 149. Irene Park finished the tournament with a total score of 76-73 5-over-par 149. Yewon Jang rounded out the three-way tie for second with a tournament total score of 75-74 5-over-par 149.
  • There was a three-way tie for low final round honors in the Boys Division with Rei Harashima of Chula Vista, California, Kenneth Zhang of San Diego, and Jahan Bains of Olympia, Washington, all shooting even-par 72 in the final round.
  • In the Girls Division, Irene Park of Rowland Heights, California, earned the low final round honors after shooting 1-over-par 73 in the final round. Her round included an eagle on the par-4 third hole and two birdies.
  • Local Ventura, California, player Adeline Anderson finished the tournament tied-for-eighth place after shooting 74-80 for a 36-hole total of 10-over-par 154.

The AJGA Preview at River Ridge (Ages 12-15) is one of 15 events held as part of the Junior Golf Hub Preview Series. The Junior Golf Hub Preview Series is designed specifically for AJGA members who have not yet played/been accepted to an AJGA tournament. This series, conducted during the spring, offers these new and returning members the opportunity to start building Performance Based Entry status before application deadlines arrive for summer Open and ACDS Junior All-Star Series events.
