Tang, Mission share Girls Division title

  • Austin Greaser of Vandalia, Ohio, entered Sunday with a four-stroke advantage over two players. In his final round, Greaser shot out of the gate birding three of his first four holes, however Greaser gave a few back on the back nine enroot to a 1-under-par 71. The Ohio junior ended his tournament with a final round score of 4-under-par 140. Greaser was the only player in the field to shoot rounds under par. This is Greaser’s first victory with the AJGA.
  • Brian Arnold of La Canada, California, carded a 3-over-par 75 in his final to finish in second with a 36-hole score of 4-over-par 148. Arnold carded six birdies over the course of the two-day tournament and even recorded an eagle at No. 4 on Saturday.
  • Christian Lee of Bellevue, Washington finished in third with a two-round total of 5-over-par 149. Lee ended with back-to-back birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to finish his tournament.
  • Joseph Chun of Irvine, California and Ian Fritz of Las Vegas finished T4 at 7-over-par 151.
  • Selena Tang of Fremont, California and Riana Mission of Las Vegas finished T1 after carding 10-over-par 154 in each of their final rounds.
  • Tang weathered the storm throughout her last round rolling in thirteen pars. Tang held the lead for most of the tournament being careful not to make any major mistakes and ride the wave of momentum to a final round 5-over-par 77. Overall, it was a strong showing for the class of 2023 grad.
  • Mission went back-and-forth with Tang in the final group of the day. She put pressure on Tang all the way to the end of the round rolling in a birdie on No. 15 to cut Tang’s lead to one stroke. With a par on No. 18, Mission found herself in a tie with Tang after 36 holes leading her to the podium alongside her playing partner.
  • Jiya Dalal of San Diego finished in solo third with a two-round total of 11-over-par 155. Dalal also carded the low round of the day for the girls with a 3-over-par 75.

About the Junior Golf Hub Preview Series

The AJGA Preview at La Purisima presented by Explore Lompoc is one of 15 events held as part of the Junior Golf Hub Preview Series. The Junior Golf Hub Preview Series is designed specifically for AJGA members who have not yet played/been accepted to an AJGA tournament. This series, conducted during the spring, offers these new and returning members the opportunity to start building Performance Based Entry status before application deadlines arrive for summer Open and ACDS Junior All-Star Series events. Some notable Preview Series alumni include the PGA TOUR’s Xander Schauffele and the LPGA’s Alison Lee.

About the AJGA
